ANNE CAUFRIEZ is an ethnomusicologist of Swiss origin. She holds a doctorate from the EHESS in Paris and is a director of research at the University of Paris IV-Sorbonne. She was a member of the CNRS ethnomusicology research team and is the author of numerous articles on traditional Portuguese music as well as four books on the same subject. The Gulbenkian Foundation in Paris published two of these books: Le Chant du Pain: Trás-os-Montes: recherches sur la romanceiro and Romances du Trás-os-Montes: mélodies et poésies. She has also published several recordings including one in Radio France’s OCORA series (Chants du blé et cornemuses de berger, Trás-os-Montes, 1980, reissued 1993).
