SANKAR VENKATESWARAN and SATOKO TSURUDOME run the Sahyande Theater in the Attappadi region in Kerala, India. In 2007, Venkateswaran founded the group Theatre Roots & Wings, where Tsurudome has been in charge of production. Venkateswaran also served as the artistic director for the International Theatre Festival of Kerala in 2015 and 2016. During his term, the programme emphasized South-South exchanges to resist the Eurocentric agendas of cultural practice.
